The Green Shift
There has been much debate regarding the Liberal Party of Canada with respect to their environmental friendly policy “The Green Shift.” The Liberal Party in my opinion has not stood for anything in the past 2 years. Now they are introducing to Canada new policy that would ultimately disrupt and slow down Canada’s economic growth. In a time when companies are struggling with oil prices, labour shortages, and the emerging global economy; anything that affects industry negatively will have great repercussions on Canadians. With China predicting on having 15 million more cars on the road next year, and our domestic car manufactures are going out of business. It is time in Canada not to deter business growth, but to support and maintain a competitive market domestically and internationally.
I believe global warming exists. I believe that the average North American is wasteful. However, I don’t believe that Canada needs to face this issue right now unless the Liberals want to put Canada back into the dark ages. The Liberals say it’s time for innovation and inspiration. I say it’s a time to protect businesses so Canadian’s maintain their jobs. I know it’s time to construct an environmental plan but it must allow businesses to react and to adopt, and it must not give other countries an unfair advantage.
I believe change must happen but we must not adopt a policy wrapped up in hype that would ultimately hurt Canadians. We need leadership to be responsible, and Dion is not that.
